NHCC TRIO students Kim Sherva, Tylan Mitchell, Debra Killian, and Camila Mercado-Michelli, along Shelly Siegel NHCC's Director of TRIO Programs, attended a town hall meeting with U.S. Senator Klobuchar, U.S. Secretary Duncan, MN Governor Dayton, and MnSCU Chancellor Rosenstone at Irondale High School on Friday, January 20, 2012.
In addition to the Early College initiative between ARCC and Irondale High School that was discussed, the meeting conversations also touched on many other aspects of education in Minnesota, including the importance of TRIO programs.
NHCC students had the opportunity to ask questions, as well as share their positive experiences as TRIO students. After the meeting, the students were also approached by those who wanted to inquire and give praise about the TRIO programs.
